Looking for a place to start dancing?

If you missed starting at the beginning of this year you can still join in July! This is a great opportunity to get in on the action. The class will start from scratch, so everyone is welcome, no dancing experience required what-so-ever, and if you join in July your fees for the whole year are R170 for students, R260 for non-UCT students and R320 for non-students. Classes start Tuesday July 27th.

Recent news

Classes have started for the 2nd semester! The schedule will remain the same, with the exception of a new beginner class which will run in the 8-9pm slot on Tuesdays. If you couldn't make it to ballroom in the first semester, or just didn't get around to it, now is the time to get in on the action - this class starts entirely from scratch.

Let's build up the team spirit before we head off to Intervarsity! Come dressed as a superhero or in full Ikeys garb!!

Formal 2010

It's that time of year again! The UCT Ballroom Formal is on the 25th of September at Kelvin Grove. The theme is Rivendell so prepare yourself for a night of dancing in the world of JRR Tolkien…

Price: Members - R170 ; non-members - R240

Intervarsity 2010

Intervarsity is a dancing competition between all the major universities in South Africa.

In 2010, it will be hosted by the University of Rhodes (in Grahamstown). It is a daylong event (on a Sunday), but we make a weekend out of it. A social starts the fun the night before and you get to meet other dancers from all over the country.

There are a variety of sections to enter, from beginners, intermediate and advanced, to gold and novice. Open sections are also lots of fun and include the boogie, sokkie, salsa and paso doble. UCT also competes as a team in the Team Dance and Formation. Whether you're there for the competition or the experience, Intervarsity is always an event to remember.

So get ready for an awesome weekend of dancing and much, much more!

Extra Classes

It's a good idea to put in some extra practice for Intervarsity, so Sunday lessons will resume in the weeks before the competition.

Dates: 1, 8, 15, 22 August

Times and further details will be announced in class.

The Competition Itself

Intervarsity takes place on a Sunday, but because we're taking the bus, we will leave on the Friday night.
